Mold growth in new construction materials is a common problem. There are several factors such as weather conditions where materials are stored as well as damp weather conditions during construction. New homes or additions can develop mold issues soon after finishing due to the presence of too much moisture in the lumber or building materials. Too often walls are covered up before building lumber is considered "dry". This creates the ideal environment for potential mold growth which is high moisture content and food source (wood, drywall).
